Valerie McGuire - Librarian
Valerie McGuire is the librarian at the Brummett Library at Cherokee Home for Children. She is married to Delton McGuire, and they have three grown children and four grandchildren: Avonlea, Pecos, Wendy Rose, and George. They have been working with children’s homes for over 20 years.
Valerie fell in love with the children’s home library on their first visit back in the early ‘90’s. It is a joy to Valerie to be able to be a part of encouraging children to love reading. One of her favorite off-campus activities is appearing at schools and libraries as “Mother Goose”. Sharing the love of poetry and nursery rhymes is important to pre-reading skills. Valerie supervises the afterschool program to give our children time to work on laptop computers for homework.
